Rival Opportunities

We’re competitors ourselves and face competition in every sphere of our lives. But how do you view the competition?

Unfortunately, most people view competitors as the “enemy”. If you’re seen fraternizing with someone from a competitor company – having a beer during happy hours, for example – your boss might have a talk with you. You might even be seen as disloyal and viewed with suspicion.

We all know in order to up our game, we need accomplished mentors – people who’ve been there, done that. If you’re fortunate enough to attract someone willing to mentor you – great! Your learning curve might be steep but immensely shortened. That said, we don’t usually get to select our mentors – otherwise, every stock investor will be queuing up outside Warren Buffett’s door, every entrepreneur will be hounding Richard Branson, and so on.

However, why stop with a traditional mentor? Widen your net.

Besides a mentor, one of the next best people to learn from is your competitor. But unlike your mentor, you can select which competitor to shadow.

These are some potential advantages of learning from your competitor:

  1. You gather options on how to tackle challenges and opportunities.

Most businesses have a given modus operando; a methodology they employ almost automatically. For example, when orders increase, when workload increases – management adds new headcount. How many people are willing to review their work processes; to streamline and wring out greater efficiencies? Perhaps your competitor is taking a different approach than merely adding head count.

  1. You add to your knowledge and expertise.

Instead of embracing the “I know best” mantra – which most owners of micro-businesses are guilty of – you could evaluate what the competitor is doing, cherry pick and build a more competitive strategy and action plan.

  1. Your competitor will drive you to excel.

Remember during your school days how you used to gamely compete with your schoolmates. Recall how you pushed them and they, in turn, propelled you to do better.

It’s common wisdom – spewed by many luminaries – that you need to compete with yourself and secure incremental improvement. However, do consider the context in which they give this advice. Their advice is valid, provided, you’re already the top dog.

But consider this example: If your competitor is pulling sales of $1 million and you’re doing only $500,000 – would you rather compete with him or with yourself?

In passing, consider this fictional conversation:

Are you a fast runner?

Are you sure?

You’re very sure you don’t have the potential to run lightning fast?

“Very sure.”

Okay, now imagine a fierce dog is chasing you. Are you a fast runner?

:-) :-) :-)

Hi Friends

I am going to share with you today on how your beliefs (or what you believe in) can help you to get what you want or stop you from getting what you want. Before I share with you what is the relationship between beliefs and your results, I am going to ask you a couple of questions.

Do you believe that you can increase your total income by 5% next month? Do you believe that you can increase your total income by 15% next month? How about do you believe that you can increase your total income by 50% next month?

I know that you will most likely to believe that you can increase your total income by 5% but NOT 50% next month. Assuming that increasing your income is worthwhile and if you believe that you can increase your total income by 5%, will you do something to make it happen? Of course you will. But  if you DO NOT believe that you can increase your total income by 50%, will you do something to make it happen? Of course NOT because you strongly believe that even if you do it, it’s not going to happen. So why waste time?

So do you realise that once you do NOT believe in something, you will NOT do anything about it since it’s not going to happen anyway. If you do NOTHING about it, then you get NOTHING. Let me give you an example. I have met many people and even friends who have a dream to start their own business. However, they do not believe that it’s possible because they will give reasons such as they are too old, too young, no money, no partners and the list goes on. The moment they believe that they CAN’T, they will NOT do anything, thus NO results.

Recently, I have launched my new investing programme called Value Investing Academy at http://www.investment-in-stocks.com. This was possible because one of my current Master Trainer changed my belief that it’s possible to generate monthly income leveraging on Value Investing Methologies used by the richest investor in the world, Warren Buffett. Previously, I do not believe what he said, so I simply treat what he said as a passing remark. After he has showed me his investing account and the passive income that he makes monthly, my belief changed. Because of the change in my belief, I start taking ACTION. With that, RESULTS are produced. Please view some of the photos where the participants have changed their belief about generating monthly passive income, and thus real-life results.

You see how powerful Beliefs can be in changing your behaviour, your results and thus your life?

Let me share with you how you can change your beliefs by attending our Free NLP Workshop NOW!

NLP SINGAPORE – One Key Secret to Be & Stay Motivated

Posted by on Nov 21, 2009 in Inspirational Stories, NLP Singapore | 2 comments

When we were young, we believed that we can do anything we want ranging from wanting to be a scientist, a doctor, a lawyer, a businessman, etc. But somehow somewhere down the line, most people stopped believing in their dreams.

You do have a dream, don’t you? Let me share with you one inspiring movie trailer called “An Astronaut Farmer”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=390WaPcxnFI. When I was young, my father who was a fishmonger told us to study hard, get a job and work hard so that we could get high pay. I did…….until one day when I realised that why I do I have to make other people’s dreams come true when I can make mine. That’s when I quitted my job and do what I love to do – to run my own company. To keep yourself motivated in what you are doing now, you will need to know why are you doing what you are doing today? For whom and for what. When you have found the answers, carry these answers with you and these will be one resource to keep you motivated.

Join our Free NLP Workshop Now to know exactly how you can be motivated and stay motivated any time you want.
